The Alexander Technique promotes wellbeing and can benefit anyone wanting to enhance their quality of life. Unwanted affects of stress, anxiety, postural discomfort and pain can be reduced and prevented. You are never too young or old to benefit from Alexander Technique lessons.

What I teach
My task, as a teacher of the Alexander technique, is to teach you HOW to use your body with freedom, ease and poise. With lessons, you will learn how to generate economy of effort in ANY activity you choose, be it sitting at a computer; bending, lifting, walking, speaking; playing an instrument or sport, or even lying down. Once learnt, the technique becomes a self help tool, a skill for life.

What is the Alexander Technique?
F.M. Alexander discovered we live in almost complete ignorance of the WAY WE USE our bodies. Stress and anxiety tighten our muscles unnecessarily, and interfere with the natural free working of our bodies. We unconsciously MISUSE ourselves, generating habitual patterns which restrict and limit our quality of life. Alexander discovered how to change habitual misuse, by showing HOW to use ourselves consciously with ease. Lessons involve gentle hands on guidance in simple everyday movements and verbal instruction.

Who can benefit?
Although the Alexander Technique is not a replacement for medical diagnosis and treatment, many find it helpful for the following conditions:
. Respiratory disorders: asthma, chronic bronchitis, breathlessness
. Muscular & Skeletal problems: Back pain, neck pain, OOS, tension headaches, sciatica, scoliosis, posture related discomfort in pregnancy
. Arthritic conditions: Osteo and Rheumatiod types, by assisting joint movement and reducing unnecessary tension
. Functional disorders: for example stuttering
. Stress disorders: emotional states, anxiety states, by calming the nervous system through reducing muscular tension
. Post operative recovery: by improving co ordination & facilitating movement.

Performing artists, sportsmen and women: for example, musicians, dancers, actors who want to enhance co-ordination and control, and optimize their level of skill.

The health conscious: to improve everyday use of themselves and enhance wellbeing.
